JSC Special: Space Station Spacewalk to be Broadcast on NASA TV
Two Russian cosmonauts will conduct a six-hour spacewalk Wednesday, Aug. 3, to continue the outfitting of the Russian segment of the International Space Station. Coverage of the spacewalk will be broadcast live on NASA Television beginning at 9 a.m. CDT.
Expedition 28 Flight Engineers Sergei Volkov and Alexander Samokutyaev will install laser communications equipment, replace experiments on the Zvezda Service Module, retrieve a rendezvous antenna, relocate a boom structure to facilitate future spacewalks and deploy a small satellite equipped with an amateur radio transmitter and a student-built experiment.
The duo will wear Russian Orlan spacesuits and is scheduled to emerge from the Pirs docking compartment airlock around 9:30 a.m. The spacewalk will be the third for Volkov, who conducted two spacewalks as Expedition 17 commander in 2008. This will be the first spacewalk for Samokutyaev.

Last night we took Alden and Meredith to Lupe Tortillas for dinner. I met them along with Melissa and Phil there - after having gone by Mission Burrito - our original destination. Mission Burrito had their playground closed - they must be losing lots of business over spring break.
Alden was playing in the sandbox and Meredith was eating a ton of food. I had sent a text of my order to MH since my phone is messing up, so my chicken tacos were almost ready. I got to feed some to Meredith and watch Alden play. After I was done eating, I played with both Alden and Meredith in the sandbox. Alden showed me where a tree used to be. We made lots of sandcastles and I slid Meredith down the slide several times. It was getting dark and Meredith tried to eat some sand so we left. The place had been packed and MH had to wait to get a table outside next to the sandbox.
When we got home we were getting them on the way to the bath, but Meredith and Alden had stopped in the kitchen. Not a big deal, but then the sand was piling up big! So, I said, “You two go get ready and get in the bath.” And Meredith took off to the bathroom from around the corner in the kitchen and went straight to the tub to try and get in. Meanwhile Alden ran off to his room!

On Saturday Mary-Helen did the breast cancer run in Houston and I played with the kids in the morning. I made egg and sausage muffins. Alden and I went on to listen to all different types of music in my CD player. I think he liked Maynard Ferguson the best!
We all then rested and I took a nap. We then left about 3:30 and went to Rice Stadium. We looked and looked for the JSC/Rice tailgate but could not find it. Alden wanted to go on the bouncy castle at the Rice Engineering Alumni tent so we headed there to register and get our tickets. He played for almost two hours! They had free hotdogs, hamburgers, beer, and chips. Alden got his face painted with a Rice R! We met Tory and he brought Buddy his dog. At kickoff Alden was demanding we go to the game, so we did without haste!

The Rice SMU game was a blast. I saw Leo with Jamie and Connor, so we moved to go sit with them. Alden fell off the seat backwards so we went to get ice and the Pappa Jon’s lady gave him a free slice of pizza. He then ran up and down the isles with Connor. MH, Meredith, and I were on the big screen! Then Meredith and I were on again later. MH got some ice cream, then Alden wanted some too and they went to get some. Rice was losing badly by the third quarter and it was approaching 8:00 pm so we left. They eventually lost 42-31.
We went by the Houston house and Alden laid down to rest and fell asleep. We packed up the cars and headed to Brenham. Alden slept and woke up briefly. Meredith woke up too.
On Sunday we had a leisurely day. I got donuts for us and took another nap. We played some outside. Alden fell pulling Sandy. We mowed a few places to keep the grass down.

Wednesday night we all went to play at Mission Burritos which has become a favorite for Alden when we are in Houston during the week. I gave Alden his Halloween costume which is a space suit with a helmet. He loved it! He wanted to sleep in it too. To get him to take it off finally, I had to tell him that it was time to shower like an astronaut.
Thursday morning I went into work and worked half a day. Alden went to swim class and then went home to change. Next Grand D, Meredith, and Alden picked me up from work and we went to the Starfire Grill for lunch. Alden wanted to play the video games but they were off. So, as we were ordering lunch, he tells the checkout lady, and she says, “Oh, I’ll go turn them on.” Alden ate some of his lunch then went to play some of the gumball and toy winning games. He won a basketball and a huge gumball. He didn’t eat too much of his lunch but I saved it.
Next we went to Rocket Park at Johnson Space Center. I showed my badge at the gate, but it wasn’t necessary. We got to see the huge Saturn V. Alden really liked it and we got some great pictures. Next we went and saw the Redstone and Titan II.
We then headed to Space Center Houston and I got Grand D a pass. Alden, Meredith, and I got in free! Alden had a great time playing in the largest play room in Texas. We also got to see a movie on being an astronaut, and then got to tour their museum. They have a Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo capsules along with a moon rock we got to touch. They also have the Skylab mockup I was wondering where it went. We then went to the mock shuttle and Alden loved sliding down the escape hatch. He did it 5 or 6 times and had to walk back up to the second floor.
Alden played more in the play area. I went in to ’supervise’ too! It is great, over 3 stories tall, with a slide at the top. We went down the slide several times. I got all the kids out by 5 and we headed to the gift shop to get Alden a souvenir T-Shirt.
Alden wanted to see my office so we went up really quickly to get some more of my stuff since I was rolling off Constellation on Friday. I put his car seat in my car since he wanted to ride with me. He munched on some of the rest of his hamburger from lunch and went to sleep. He ended up sleeping all night. Grand D returned some books and picked up some BBQ for us for dinner while MH had a recruiting event.

On Wednesday this week, I met MH, Alden, Meredith, and Grand D. at Mission Burrito for dinner. Alden was playing hard on the playset and slide and wanted me to come into his “house”. I said hi and would after I ate (and eventually went down the slide there at Mission Burrito too!). One little boy hurt himself and Alden went up and helped him “Shake it off!” It was really sweet and the boy’s parents really found it great too. They had walked to Mission and I had met them there from work, so I drove home and got the ML and met them part of the way back. But, Meredith wasn’t in her carrier, so we ended up walking and Grand D. taking the ML back to the house. It was a very nice walk and Alden learned how to stop at a driveway and look up the driveway to see if a car was backing out before he crossed. The first time I said stop and look up the driveway he looked up in the air! How cute. Alden took a good shower/bath and practiced swimming belly down towards the end. He’s doing so well.
Thursday morning I got Meredith dressed in her butterfly suit and Alden slept in a little - he had slept in the car to Houston the day before. I fixed some toaster waffles and bacon and there was one egg left for Alden. They had a great day at swimming and went to McDonalds to play indoors that afternoon. Grand D. had made some mac and cheese for Alden and I had a bite, and then he headed back to Brenham and Alden and Meredith and I went for a walk. Alden was great about stopping at the driveways. When we got to a driveway blocked by a car, he went around the car and said “How Fantastic!” It was great.
We went to the Post Office and checked the mail. It was scary crossing Richmond with both of them and crazy drivers, I will probably not do that ever again. Alden had a great time going to the newspaper machines and getting flyers and free papers from each one. It was getting dark so we headed home.
Right as we made it to the house, Mommy came home and met us. We were hungry - it was already late, so Alden and I went to get BBQ from Goode Co. We got some BBQ - they didn’t have kids meals. Alden was really tired and ended up biteing Meredith later, but ended up being happy after bath. It was really late and he finally fell asleep after half a verse of Puff that mommy sang. Meredith fell asleep quickly too.
Mom (Grandma) arrived late and we stayed up a little talking. Meredith was awake when Mommy left for work and Alden slept in a little again. Now it’s Friday again, and time for another weekend!

In Adobe Flash / Flex, sometimes in a DataGrid or AdvancedDataGrid, when checking multiple checkboxes a previously checked CheckBox will drop the check mark. This is really annoying and can cause errors. It’s a documented bug in Flash player that Adobe hasn’t gotten around to fixing. You can however fix it yourself by supplying a custom item renderer for each column with a checkbox.
Basically, create your own renderer based on the CheckBox and supply a click and selected function. The click function is the inverse of the dataField and the selected is just the value of the dataField desired.
<mx:AdvancedDataGrid id=”adList“ editable=”true“ dataProvider=”{aDP}” >
<mx:groupedColumns>
<mx:AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup headerText=”Group1“>
<mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn editable=”false“ headerText=”Col1” dataField=”testA“/>
<mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn textAlign=”center” headerText=”Col2” width=”35” editorDataField=”selected”
rendererIsEditor=”true” dataField=”check” >
<mx:itemRenderer>
<mx:Component>
<mx:CheckBox click=”data.check = !data.check” selected=”{data.check}” />
</mx:Component>
</mx:itemRenderer>
</mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn>
This is bug #16801 in Flash

For the following Flex / ColdFusion fault string:
faultString = “Detected duplicate HTTP-based FlexSessions, generally due to the remote host disabling session cookies. Session cookies must be enabled to manage the client connection correctly.”
faultCode = “Server.Processing.DuplicateSessionDetected”
Make sure that session cookies are enabled on the server and that the flex2gateway URL is not rewritten or modified by redirects internally via mod_rewrites or IIS or externally for authentication purposes.
