On Saturday it was August’s birthday. Across the street they were setting up the bouncy castle while we had a late brunch. A little after 11 am, we headed across the street and Alden and Meredith both enjoyed bouncing in the bouncy castle. We then went inside and had some lunch. Alden was able to eat one of the hot dogs and some of the veggies. Alden was enjoying the swing set so much he didn’t want to stop and do the crafts. Meredith and Alden both painted toy cars. One of the party favors was a hat with their name on it and a racing flag that went with the ‘Cars’ theme of the party. Meredith was so cute with a T shirt we put over her to paint that she didn’t want to take it off. With her hat turned backwards, she said ‘I’m cool!’. It was great. We all sang happy birthday. They finished by bouncing some more. I got in and bounced with them for awhile until the kids started coming back out and getting in. Meredith and mommy went home and Alden started picking flowers and giving them to the neighbor’s daughter. haha. We went back in and Alden tried the Veggie straws and really loved them! We eventually left after having a great afternoon.

Alden and Meredith went up to Brenham on Thursday night and then Grandma picked them up Friday morning. They had Santa pictures today with Grandma and they came out looking great so far. Meredith is smiling and not crying this year! It’s great she’s not scared of Santa Claus this year!

Alden this week on Wednesday said he was going to make a shopping list. He got out a piece of paper with line markings for drawing letters and asked me what I wanted to order. I said I wanted a thousand dollars, and he laughed and said “No daddy, what food do you want?” I said OK, I want some refried beans. He said ok, that starts with the letter “R”. He checked in the front of his paper book to see how to draw it to jog the memory. After looking at it, he switched back to the blank sheet and drew a great looking R. We then sounded out R-E-F-R-I-E-D. The next to last E was tricky. He did a great job and is getting good with upper case letters. All of this started this week.
Meredith has been talking some in Spanish lately. Her teachers at school say she is the only student to talk in both English and Spanish, and she’s the youngest in the class!

The St. Luke’s Book Fair is this week. On Tuesday night we went to Grandparent’s night at St. Luke’s. We all met in the gym and had lasagna and chicken with noodles along with fruit. After eating, we visited Alden’s classroom and then Meredith’s classroom. We met the teachers in each and they were all very praising of both of them! Meredith has been talking in Spanish during the class too.
Next, we went back down to the gym to see Alden sign and dance along with classmates to Christmas songs. His class and others in his age group all got on stage with the music teacher to perform. Afterwards he ran off one side, so it was hard to track him down.
The next morning was Dad’s Breakfast at St. Luke’s. Knowing that they were going to serve tacos with unknown ingredients, I made breakfast for us. We didn’t have any tortillas, so I made banana crepes. The line to get into the breakfast was very long, but we finally got to sit down. They shortly thereafter ran out of food, so I gave a taco to Trey’s dad who was sitting at our table and didn’t get one. Alden and Trey were having a great time. As we were leaving, we saw Meredith and Grand D., so I went to say goodbye. Meredith started crying, but we had a great hug. I took Alden and Trey to class and told the teacher Trey’s dad would be up in a minute and told Alden goodbye. I then went back downstairs to the book fair and shopped for books with Grand D. We both found some great selections. I then said goodbye and headed down to JSC.

“Me, Rollins and Trey are a team!!! Together we can do anything!!! And Meredith. She can be on the team, too. But not anybody else except you Mommy. And maybe Ella Grace. But only sometimes. Because Me and Rollins are TOUGH!”

MH got tickets to go see the Texans game so she picked up Alden and took him to the game.
Meredith and I watched Rapunzel - Tangled. She got kind of bored so I ended up reading her books. Alden fell asleep on the way home from the game.
